Comment : Alessandro Mendini, born in 1931, architect, designer was a key-figure in the postmodern design movement of the 60s. He worked with Marcello Nizzolli, Studio Alchimia, Ettore Sottsass. His fame is among colorfull beautifull designs to be seen as individual form and shape. Mix with tradition, and relationships with people, even from the past. About his famous 'proust' chair: “Designing is an intellectual exercise”, he once said. “Beauty needs no function it can only be for amusement”. “Pointillism is a method, a real theory. If each point of a design is good, the whole object is good”. This Arkab lightsculpture has been only produced in 50 pieces. Very rare and limited piece of art. This is nr 15. It has three 'tip-finger' light positions. Shown in the Venine catalogue, productnr 899.40 – F. Deboni, I Vetri Venini, Umberto Allemandi Editore, 2010, vol II no. 349.
