Louis van Teeffelen, born in 1921, was a Dutch industrial designer who played an important role in the Dutch modern design movement in the 1950s and ’60s. He is best known for his work with Dutch furniture manufacturer, WeBé. From 1955 until 1967 Van Teeffelen designed a wide array of tables, sideboards and various modular wall systems.

Van Teeffelen was strongly influenced by Scandinavian midcentury design which is reflected in his organic sculptural structures and his use of teak. One of his best known designs, the Pelican Armchair, has become a true design classic. Other designs by Van Teeffelen include the Cow Horn Chair, the Scissor Chair and a great variety of credenzas and small cabinets, many of which feature ceramic tiles decorations by Dutch ceramist Jaap Ravelli.
